Most people have a good idea about the fuel consumption of their vehicles and
are able to modify their behaviour as a result. But energy used in buildings
is different - it's invisible.
Getting people to change their behaviour when they can't really see what it is they're dealing with is difficult.
If we could make the energy used in buildings visible - just like the way we can see the cost of our phone calls or the amount of fuel we use - people would start to have a very different attitude to their use of energy and manage it better.
But it's not just about making energy visible. The way that this information is presented is also important. Many people are put off by the rather techie presentation of information that many remote energy meters provide.
