Despite growing awareness of the need to save energy it can sometimes be
difficult to know where to start.
We are focusing on helping schools to effect behaviour change by:
Schools are a perfect environment in which to encourage behavioural change - starting in the school and extending to the home. We want to encourage parents and whole communities to get involved too; for example, by setting up student led community projects.
The education system was previously known as enforma.
A set of low cost mobile sensors are connected to any electrical supply or appliance. The information gathered is presented on a range of displays from classroom PCs to corridor plasma displays in a way that brings the information to life.
The system is modular and schools will generally start by using a relatively small kit. This enables the school to run an initial set of energy projects with pupils, engaging them in practical and lasting improvements for the school. More modules can be added in support of each year´s projects.
Here are just two ideas for projects.
The system is being trialled in our own premises this and a number of
pre-production systems will be available from January 2008 at a discounted
price.
In addition, the first 10 school installations will be subsidised by money awarded to us as winners of the Shell Springboard competition.
We are currently running a number of trials on our commercial systems.
