The Home Energy Hub

GEO´s Home Energy Hub is a new lifestyle product that makes energy visible, allowing consumers to monitor and control their energy usage. The devices are designed to give detailed information about the energy usage of different appliances, electrical circuits and heating in the home. There are several different models available, offering different levels of energy monitoring and information, details of which are shown below.

The Solo

The simple LCD displays are the starting points: the Solo provides the consumer with real-time information about their energy usage and has the ability to compare current energy usage to usage last week, providing a clear and simple way to evaluate energy usage.

The Solo displays:

• Current energy usage (load)
• Overall consumption today
• Environmental impact: CO₂ emissions and cost of energy used today

The Solo is the basic product within our range and is designed around the Energy White Paper.

The Duet

The Duet offers a secondary display that is attached to the Solo display and provides the monitoring of up to 6 appliances and central heating. It also gives the consumer the ability to compare the energy usage of the appliances and heating over time.

In addition to the Solo, the Duet displays:

• Heating & hot water usage
• Energy consumption of up to 6 distinct appliances (in terms of energy, cost and CO₂ emissions)
• Remote on/off control of the 6 distinct appliances with safety and security lock options

As with the Solo device, the Duet is a user installable product and does not require professional installation.

The Trio & Trio+

The colour display is the main display for the system and is designed to be used in the living area of a home. The interactive screen is designed to display energy information in a novel and engaging way.

The Trio provides:

• Interactive touch screen interface
• Ability to display energy usage from up to 100 distinct sensors (these can be attached to all circuits, sockets and appliances in the home)
• 2 months of memory for all sensors
• Flexible user metrics for usage, savings and reward points
• Alert and feedback communication system with GEO servers

The Trio+ provides (in addition to Trio):

• Sub-metering of circuits, boiler and micro-generation systems
• Temperature monitoring
• The Trio+ sensors need to be professionally installed

The system incorporates many other features, for example; it can measure both oil and gas boiler usage, can be interfaced with microgeneration systems and it connects to the web enabling GEO to analyse your data and alert you to any abnormal conditions or usage.

Accessories

Consumption data is gathered by a range of sensors, one of which is illustrated here. It is an adaptor which plugs into the socket and the appliance plugs into the adaptor. Not only does the adaptor measure the energy consumption, it also monitors various safety parameters (such as loose connections). It includes control functionality whereby the appliance can be switched off from the screen either manually or by means of a time switch.
